Whataroa School

Welcome to Whataroa School.

We love the enthusiasm that Whataroa School brings to their participation. The champions from Whataroa School have a long way to come (592kms). They are planning to travel to the workshop on Tuesday - as a thank you we've got together with the Otago Museum and we've organised a special treat for them on Wednesday morning.

Founded in 1879 with a roll of 39 and a decile ranking of 7. Whataroa School on the Westcoast between Franz Joesph and Hari Hari may be the oldest school in the Ahi Pepe MothNet network and we're looking forward to their visit. Like their co-west coast School at Haast the Champions from Whataroa have a long way to come to the Workshop at Orokonui Ecosanctuary. So much so that they are traveling the day before - we're pairing up with the good folk at the Otago Museum to get the most science they can out of the trip.

The rest of us are looking forward to helping Whataroa School run the experiment part of the Ahi Pepe MothNet project.
